I shutdown, reseated the memory, ensured all SATA cables were secured, etc. All SATA drives that are plugged in are showing in the list of devices, including my main SSD.
All good but problem persists and the PC goes directly to the MSI BIOS after attempting to boot into Windows.Ģ. I rebooted multiple times, removed all peripherals and other drives, disabled fast boot, and made sure that my SSD with Windows 10 was selected at the top of the UEFI boot order. I managed to fix the problem, but I don't fully understand why that option worked, so I'm seeking some input from here.ġ. There were no error messages displayed on screen that I could see. After that reboot my PC would immediately go to the BIOS and wouldn't start Windows. Once we booted to the old SSD, set up the account, we rebooted, reverted to UEFI mode, unplugged the legacy SSD and the old traditional hard drive, installed Windows on the new NVME drive, activated Windows, then rebooted, set back to UEFI mode and reconnected the old drives once more.I had a problem come up yesterday evening where my PC (specs below) completely froze (except for moving the mouse around the screen - couldn't do anything else) and I had to do a hard reboot. Set up a Microsoft account so we could transfer the Windows Activation from the old system to the new one without having to get the old system up and running as it was already disassembled.
We had to switch the BIOS UEFI/CSM Mode setting from UEFI to CSM temporarily while booting to the old SSD. We did eventually find a USB drive that the motherboard would recognize, but the latest bios did not fix our drive recognition issues.įinally in the end it was a random Russian video on YouTube that solved the problem for us.
The MSI Boot Menu is blank aside from Exit to Bios or something to that effect. Selecting UEFI HARD DISK, does nothing and just automatically boots to the bios. Shows the menu listing the actual device in that case " UEFI Hard Disk Windows Boot Manager (PO: Acer GT500m 256g)", we have none, it simply says UEFI HARD DISK. In the Set Up Boot Priority, the 3rd image down on the page in your link. There was reasons we wanted to boot from the old ssd before doing a fresh install of Windows on an NVME M.2 drive.
